MedStudent OS — Terms of Service
Effective Date: 1 September 2026 • Last Updated: 6 September 2026
These Terms of Service govern your purchase of, access to and use of MedStudent OS. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
MedStudent OS is operated by Ryan Chan trading as MedStudent OS, Sole Trader, England, United Kingdom. Business Address: [ADDRESS]. Contact Email: Ryan.medstudentos@gmail.com. These Terms of Service govern your purchase of, access to and use of MedStudent OS. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy, and AI Life Coaching & Clinical Disclaimer. By starting a MedStudent OS free trial or paid subscription, you enter into a contract with Ryan Chan trading as MedStudent OS. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
MedStudent OS is an AI Life Coach + Personal Cheerleader for Medical Students. It is designed to help users understand themselves more clearly; reflect on Medical School and wider life; recognise what may be holding them back; think through their future direction; explore the Doctor and person they want to become; identify meaningful priorities for the next six months; think out loud; celebrate wins; work through difficult moments; explore decisions; and use Uncle Ryan as an ongoing personal Life Coaching space. MedStudent OS currently includes a structured 3-Step Framework, followed by ongoing user-led Life Coaching. The framework is intended to establish understanding and direction. It is not a guarantee of a particular outcome or a fixed life plan.
Access requirements
MedStudent OS is currently delivered as a Custom GPT inside ChatGPT. You therefore need your own ChatGPT account; access to ChatGPT in your country or region; an internet connection; and an eligible device, browser or ChatGPT interface. Your MedStudent OS subscription is separate from your ChatGPT account. Your £4/month MedStudent OS subscription does not include a paid ChatGPT subscription. You do not need ChatGPT Plus specifically to subscribe to MedStudent OS. Eligible Free ChatGPT users can use GPTs, subject to OpenAI’s applicable account requirements, usage limits and availability.
B. Access Verification Information
MedStudent OS uses AuthFlow to verify whether the email address you provide is associated with an eligible free trial or subscription. The checkout email may be sent through the MedStudent OS GPT Action to AuthFlow so access status can be checked. AuthFlow may return whether an account is in a free trial, actively subscribed, expired, not associated with a subscription, or otherwise eligible or ineligible. Ryan Chan may also have access to aggregated or account-level AuthFlow analytics including authentication attempts, unique users, outcomes and subscription status. AuthFlow Privacy Policy: authflow-ai.com/privacy.
ChatGPT is provided separately by OpenAI.
Your use of ChatGPT is subject to OpenAI’s own applicable terms, policies and account requirements. OpenAI’s current Europe Terms apply to individual users in the UK, EEA and Switzerland. MedStudent OS is an independent product operated by Ryan Chan. MedStudent OS is not operated, sponsored or endorsed by OpenAI.
MedStudent OS is intended only for users aged 18 years or older. By starting a free trial, purchasing a subscription or using MedStudent OS, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you must not purchase or use MedStudent OS.
MedStudent OS is primarily designed for adult Medical Students. The product is particularly built around the experiences of Medical Students navigating Medicine, personal development, career direction and life outside Medicine. Other adults may encounter or attempt to use MedStudent OS, but the product may not be designed or optimised for their circumstances. MedStudent OS does not guarantee that every feature, question or coaching approach will be relevant to every user.
MedStudent OS currently offers eligible new users 3 days free, followed by £4 per month, unless a different price or offer is clearly displayed before purchase. A valid payment method is required to start the free trial. Your trial begins when the trial is successfully created through Stripe. The Stripe checkout and customer-management system will display your trial status, when your trial ends, the date your first payment is due, your recurring subscription price, and your subscription-management options. The current MedStudent OS trial lasts approximately 72 hours from activation. AuthFlow’s current documentation describes free trials as providing full access during the trial before automatically converting to the paid subscription unless cancelled.
Unless you cancel before your free trial expires, your subscription will automatically become a £4/month recurring subscription. Your first £4 payment is taken on the date shown through Stripe. Your subscription then renews monthly until you cancel. By starting the free trial, you acknowledge that the trial is connected to an automatically renewing paid subscription unless cancelled. The exact upcoming billing date displayed by Stripe should be treated as the relevant billing date for your subscription.
You can cancel during your 3-day free trial. If you cancel before the first payment becomes due, you will not be charged the first £4 monthly payment. Based on the current MedStudent OS Stripe configuration, cancellation during the trial does not immediately end the remaining free-trial period. You may continue to have trial access until the trial-end date shown through Stripe. Full operational details are set out in the Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy.
If your free trial converts into a paid subscription, Stripe will charge £4 per month until you cancel. AuthFlow’s current subscription documentation states that subscriptions renew automatically and users who cancel retain access until the end of their current billing period. You are not required to commit to a minimum number of paid months. You may cancel at any time.
Billing is managed through Stripe. After beginning a MedStudent OS free trial, Stripe may send emails relating to the end of your free trial; your upcoming payment; payment status; subscription management; and other relevant billing information. The current MedStudent OS billing setup allows customers to access the Stripe Customer Portal. Select the option to manage your subscription, enter the email address associated with your MedStudent OS subscription, and Stripe sends a secure Customer Portal login link to that email address. Use that link to access your billing portal and manage or cancel your MedStudent OS subscription from there. The Customer Portal login link is intended for the relevant customer and should not be shared with other people.
You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal. When you cancel, future automatic renewal is stopped; you are not ordinarily charged for a further billing period; you retain subscription entitlement until the end of your current paid billing period; and your access may end once that entitlement expires. AuthFlow’s current documentation states that cancelled subscribers retain access until the end of their billing period. If you experience difficulty cancelling, contact Ryan.medstudentos@gmail.com. We will help you access or manage your subscription.
MedStudent OS uses AuthFlow to verify whether users have eligible access. When requested, you must provide the email address used to start your MedStudent OS free trial or subscription. Access may depend on AuthFlow confirming an eligible status such as an active free trial, active paid subscription, or another valid entitlement status. If MedStudent OS cannot verify eligible access, the paid coaching experience may be unavailable until that issue is resolved.
Your right to use paid MedStudent OS functionality is linked to your eligible trial or subscription entitlement. When your entitlement expires, you should not assume that an existing ChatGPT conversation gives you a continuing contractual right to use MedStudent OS without payment. The technical behaviour of ChatGPT, AuthFlow or an existing conversation does not create a new paid entitlement or extend a subscription that has expired. This clause exists because the technical interface and the contractual subscription are different things. Where technically possible, MedStudent OS may verify whether an eligible entitlement remains active.
You must use your own subscription and your own genuine checkout email. You must not intentionally use another subscriber’s email to obtain paid access; give your subscription email to another person so they can bypass payment; share private Stripe Customer Portal login links; impersonate another subscriber; interfere with MedStudent OS access verification; or deliberately circumvent the subscription system. Normal sharing of the public MedStudent OS website or product link with friends is absolutely welcome. What is prohibited is deliberately sharing paid entitlement in order to bypass the subscription requirement.
MedStudent OS aims to handle billing issues generously and reasonably. If you forgot to cancel; believe you were charged unexpectedly; experienced a billing issue; accidentally remained subscribed; experienced a significant technical problem; or believe a refund would be fair, please contact Ryan.medstudentos@gmail.com. MedStudent OS operates an unlimited discretionary goodwill approach to refund requests. This means Ryan will consider genuine refund requests individually and aims to resolve them fairly and generously. A goodwill refund is not automatically guaranteed in every circumstance; does not mean an identical refund must be offered in every future case; and does not restrict any statutory refund, cancellation or consumer rights you may have. Further information is contained in the Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy.
Nothing in these Terms limits or removes any legal rights you have as a consumer. UK consumer contracts for services contain statutory protections, including requirements around reasonable care and skill, fair contractual terms and clear information about online purchases. Consumer terms must also be fair and transparent. Terms that attempt to remove important consumer protections may be unenforceable. Your statutory rights operate separately from MedStudent OS’s voluntary goodwill refund approach.
MedStudent OS access begins during your free-trial period rather than waiting until your first paid monthly charge. You are therefore able to begin using the service immediately after successful trial activation and access verification. Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove any cooling-off or cancellation rights that apply to you under consumer law. Further information about cancellation and refunds is provided in the Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy.
MedStudent OS is designed to help users reflect, understand themselves and make more intentional decisions. We do not guarantee that MedStudent OS will make you happy, more confident, more productive, academically successful, healthier, certain about your career, accepted into a particular specialty, successful in exams, successful in relationships, financially successful, or successful in any particular area of life. You remain responsible for your own decisions, actions and circumstances. The value of Life Coaching naturally varies between users.
MedStudent OS uses generative artificial intelligence. AI-generated responses may occasionally misunderstand your meaning; make incorrect assumptions; overlook context; provide inaccurate information; provide outdated information; contradict itself; fail to remember information; interpret something differently from how you intended it; or sound confident despite being wrong. You should use your own judgement when considering AI-generated information. Where accuracy is important, verify information using appropriate reliable sources.
MedStudent OS is an AI Life Coach + Personal Cheerleader. It is not psychotherapy, psychiatric care, medical diagnosis, medical treatment, a healthcare provider, a treating clinician, a clinical supervisor, an emergency service, or a substitute for appropriate professional care. Detailed boundaries are explained in the AI Life Coaching & Clinical Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.
External policies and related documents
22. Immediate Safety
MedStudent OS is not designed to replace emergency or crisis services. If you or somebody else is in immediate danger, use appropriate real-world emergency services rather than relying on MedStudent OS. In the UK, this may include 999 or the nearest Emergency Department depending on the situation. Users outside the UK should contact appropriate emergency services in their location.
23. Personal Health Information
MedStudent OS may help users think through ordinary health-related lifestyle topics such as sleep, exercise, rest, movement, fitness, cooking, general nutrition habits and sustainable routines. It must not be relied upon as your treating clinician for diagnosis, medication changes, treatment decisions, management of significant illness or urgent health problems.
24. Medical Education and Real Patients
MedStudent OS may support general medical education and help users discuss de-identified clinical experiences. However, MedStudent OS must not replace clinical supervision, local policies, approved clinical guidelines, the responsible healthcare team or appropriate escalation for a real patient. Do not use MedStudent OS as the sole basis for a real patient’s diagnosis, investigation or treatment.
25. Patient Confidentiality
Do not deliberately provide unnecessary information that could identify a real patient. This includes patient names, full dates of birth, home addresses, NHS or hospital numbers, telephone numbers, email addresses, identifiable photographs or other unnecessary identifiers. Use appropriately de-identified information where discussion of a clinical experience is genuinely useful. The same rule applies to screenshots, feedback and support submissions.
26. Your Private Chat
MedStudent OS operates within ChatGPT. OpenAI currently states that GPT builders cannot view users’ individual conversations with their GPTs. This means Ryan Chan does not automatically receive or read your private MedStudent OS conversation merely because he created the GPT. Your ChatGPT conversation remains subject to OpenAI’s own applicable privacy practices and Data Controls. Please see the MedStudent OS Privacy Policy for full details.
27. Support and Feedback Are Separate From Your Private Chat
If you voluntarily send Ryan support information, feedback, an email, a screenshot or a conversation excerpt, Ryan may see the specific material you chose to send. You should only submit the minimum information reasonably necessary. Please do not send identifiable patient information, passwords, complete payment-card information or unnecessary sensitive personal information.
28. Acceptable Use
You agree to use MedStudent OS lawfully and reasonably. You must not intentionally use MedStudent OS to break applicable law; harass, threaten or harm another person; obtain unauthorised access to another person’s account; commit fraud; bypass subscription or payment controls; interfere with or disrupt the service; obtain or expose private credentials or security information; share information you do not have the right to disclose; or knowingly compromise patient confidentiality. Your use of ChatGPT must also comply with OpenAI’s applicable terms and policies.
29. Intellectual Property
The MedStudent OS brand, Uncle Ryan product branding, original MedStudent OS website content, original written frameworks, documentation, product configuration, logos and visual assets owned by MedStudent OS, and other original materials created specifically for the product remain owned by Ryan Chan trading as MedStudent OS where protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Purchasing a subscription gives you personal access to use MedStudent OS. It does not transfer ownership of MedStudent OS itself. You may naturally discuss or recommend MedStudent OS to other people and retain ordinary personal notes or reflections arising from your own coaching journey. You must not reproduce, resell or distribute substantial proprietary MedStudent OS materials as your own competing commercial product without permission.
30. Feedback
Feedback is genuinely encouraged. If you voluntarily provide feedback, you allow MedStudent OS to review it, learn from it and use the ideas contained within it to improve the product. Providing feedback does not automatically give Ryan permission to publicly use your name, photograph, personal story, testimonial, private MedStudent OS conversation, screenshot or identifying information. Separate permission will be requested before identifiable user feedback is used publicly for marketing. You are free to say no.
31. Changes to MedStudent OS
MedStudent OS will continue to evolve. We may make reasonable changes to the coaching framework, prompts and instructions, product features, website design, service providers, branding, technical infrastructure, access processes and other aspects of the experience. We will not use this clause to deprive customers of services they have already paid for in a way that would be unfair under consumer law. Where a material change meaningfully affects a paid subscription, MedStudent OS will aim to provide reasonable information or notice where appropriate.
32. Changes to Price
The current MedStudent OS price is £4/month after the 3-day free trial. If the price changes for future customers, the current price shown at checkout will apply to the transaction. If MedStudent OS proposes changing the recurring price for an existing subscriber, appropriate advance notice will be given and any requirements of applicable consumer law and the billing provider will be followed. We will not secretly change the recurring subscription price.
33. Availability
We aim to keep MedStudent OS available and functioning properly. However, uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed. Access may occasionally be affected by ChatGPT outages, OpenAI changes, Stripe outages, AuthFlow issues, Framer issues, internet failures, account restrictions, maintenance, technical bugs, platform usage limits or circumstances outside our reasonable control. Where a material service failure occurs, contact Ryan.medstudentos@gmail.com and we will aim to resolve the issue fairly.
34. Third-Party Platform Changes
Because MedStudent OS currently relies on ChatGPT and other third-party infrastructure, those providers may change technical functionality, access requirements, account requirements, usage limits, models, APIs, Actions functionality, pricing, policies or availability. MedStudent OS cannot guarantee that third-party services will remain unchanged indefinitely. If a third-party change materially prevents MedStudent OS from continuing in its current form, we will aim to adapt the service or handle affected subscriptions fairly.
35. Suspension or Termination by MedStudent OS
We may suspend or terminate an individual’s access where reasonably necessary because of fraud, serious misuse, deliberate payment circumvention, unauthorised account sharing, unlawful use, serious security threats, deliberate attempts to damage the service or another substantial breach of these Terms. Where appropriate and reasonably possible, we will aim to explain the reason. Any suspension or termination will remain subject to applicable consumer rights and any refund or remedy required by law.
36. Stopping MedStudent OS Entirely
If Ryan Chan decides to permanently discontinue MedStudent OS, new subscriptions may be stopped, existing subscribers will be informed where reasonably possible, future recurring payments will be stopped, and customers will be treated fairly regarding any paid period that cannot reasonably be provided. MedStudent OS will not intentionally continue charging customers for a service that has permanently ceased to be provided.
37. Our Responsibility to You
MedStudent OS will provide the service with the level of care required under applicable consumer law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, these Terms do not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable consumer statutory rights. UK law implies certain protections into consumer service contracts, including that services are carried out with reasonable care and skill.
38. Losses Outside Our Reasonable Control
MedStudent OS is not responsible for losses caused solely by circumstances outside our reasonable control where we have otherwise complied with our obligations. Examples may include an unexpected outage of an unrelated third-party platform. However, nothing in this section removes any remedy that applicable consumer law says you are entitled to receive.
39. Personal Use
MedStudent OS is currently offered primarily for personal consumer use. Unless separately agreed, your subscription does not give you permission to resell access, commercially sublicense MedStudent OS, operate it as a paid service for third parties or reproduce substantial proprietary MedStudent OS materials for commercial resale.
40. International Users
MedStudent OS is initially designed and operated from England and primarily marketed to UK Medical Students. However, eligible adults in other countries may be able to access the service where ChatGPT is available, Stripe or payment services support the transaction, and local law permits access. Users outside the UK are responsible for considering whether using MedStudent OS is appropriate and lawful in their own jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer protection that applies to you in the country where you live.
41. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in another part of the United Kingdom or another country, you may also benefit from mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Nothing in these Terms is intended to prevent a consumer from relying on rights that applicable law says cannot be excluded.
42. If Part of These Terms Cannot Be Enforced
If a court or other competent authority decides that part of these Terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply where legally possible.
43. Not Waiving Our Rights
If MedStudent OS does not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not automatically mean that provision has been permanently waived. Similarly, a generous goodwill decision made for one customer does not automatically create an obligation to make the identical discretionary decision in every future circumstance. This does not affect statutory consumer rights.
44. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated as MedStudent OS develops or legal requirements change. The current version will be published at medstudentos.co.uk with its latest revision date. Where a material change affects existing paid subscribers and notice is legally or reasonably required, we will aim to provide appropriate notice.
45. Contact and Complaints
If something has gone wrong, please contact Ryan directly. We would much rather understand and resolve a genuine problem than leave you frustrated. Ryan Chan trading as MedStudent OS. Address: [ADDRESS], England, United Kingdom. Email: Ryan.medstudentos@gmail.com. For subscription-management and billing issues, you can also use the Stripe Customer Portal made available in connection with your MedStudent OS subscription.
46. Documents That Form Part of Your MedStudent OS Agreement
Please also read the Privacy Policy, explaining how MedStudent OS handles personal information; the Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy, explaining how the 3-day trial, £4/month subscription, cancellation and goodwill refunds operate; and the AI Life Coaching & Clinical Disclaimer, explaining the boundaries around Life Coaching, mental health, personal health, medical education and real-patient decisions. Together, these documents explain the MedStudent OS customer relationship.
