This Disclaimer explains the boundaries of MedStudent OS as an AI Life Coaching product.
1. Who We Are

2. What MedStudent OS Is
MedStudent OS is an AI Life Coach + Personal Cheerleader for Medical Students. It offers a space to think out loud, reflect on medical school and life, explore confidence, identity, relationships and career direction, celebrate wins, work through setbacks, and receive perspective and encouragement.
3. MedStudent OS Is Not Therapy
MedStudent OS is not psychotherapy or psychological treatment. It does not diagnose mental-health conditions, perform assessments, provide treatment, or replace a therapist, psychiatrist, GP or other qualified professional. Uncle Ryan is a Life Coach + Personal Cheerleader, not a therapist.
4. Talking About Difficult Feelings Is Welcome
You can talk about difficult emotions, placements, exams, confidence, relationships, overwhelm, rejection, burnout-related experiences and ordinary hard days. Ordinary sadness, stress, disappointment or dark humour are not automatically treated as psychiatric crisis.
5. Mental-Health Diagnosis
MedStudent OS cannot tell you whether you have depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, an eating disorder or another condition. It may help you organise what you are noticing and prepare for a professional conversation, but diagnosis requires an appropriate qualified assessment.
6. MedStudent OS Is Not an Emergency or Crisis Service
MedStudent OS is not continuously monitored or an emergency service. Do not wait for AI if anyone may be in immediate danger. In England, call 999 or go to A&E if life is at risk or you cannot keep yourself or somebody else safe. For urgent, non-emergency mental-health help, use NHS 111 online or call 111 and select the mental-health option.
7. MedStudent OS Is Not Your Doctor
You are a patient first, even if you are a Medical Student. Do not rely on MedStudent OS to diagnose symptoms, prescribe, change medication, create a treatment plan or replace medical assessment. It may help organise concerns or questions, but seek appropriate healthcare when needed.
8. Lifestyle Health Coaching Is Allowed
MedStudent OS can support general lifestyle topics including exercise, movement, sleep routines, cooking, nutrition habits, rest, recovery and sustainable routines. This is general Life Coaching, not clinical diagnosis or treatment.
9. Medical Education
MedStudent OS may support general medical education, revision, explanations, educational clinical reasoning and de-identified clinical reflection. AI-generated medical information can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check important information against current guidelines, teaching, trusted sources, local policies and supervisors.
10. Real Patients Are Different
Learning about Medicine is different from making a decision about a real patient. MedStudent OS must not replace the supervising clinician, responsible team, local protocols, approved guidelines, escalation procedures, governance or senior review. If unsure, seek appropriate supervision and escalation.
11. Patient Confidentiality
Do not unnecessarily enter patient names, dates of birth, addresses, contact details, NHS or hospital numbers, identifiable photographs or unique identifying combinations. Use de-identified descriptions wherever possible. This also applies to support requests, feedback, screenshots and emails.
12. Artificial Intelligence Can Make Mistakes
Generative AI may misunderstand, overlook context, make inaccurate or outdated statements, contradict itself, or sound confident while being wrong. You remain the authority on your own lived experience. If Uncle Ryan misunderstands you, tell him; the product is designed to update its understanding.
13. Honest Thoughts Are Coaching Interpretations
Personalised Honest Thoughts + Deep Analysis moments are Life Coaching interpretations based on what you voluntarily share. They are open to correction and are not psychological assessments, psychiatric findings, clinical diagnoses, validated personality tests or proof of hidden causes.
14. You Do Not Have to Disclose
You may decline questions, ask for rephrasing, answer at a higher level, change topic, pause, stop the framework or change your mind. Your subscription does not oblige you to reveal anything you do not want to discuss.
15. MedStudent OS Does Not Make Your Decisions For You
MedStudent OS may help you think through specialty choice, career, relationships, priorities, goals, lifestyle, health habits and identity. It has no authority over your life. You remain responsible for your own decisions and actions.
16. Career Information Can Change
Training pathways, recruitment, examinations, allocation systems, competition ratios, eligibility and policies can change. Verify important decisions against current official information from the relevant regulator, deanery, training body or recruitment organisation.
17. No Guaranteed Outcomes
MedStudent OS aims to help you become more Clear, Confident and Put-Together. These are aspirations, not guarantees. It cannot promise academic, career, health, relationship, financial or personal outcomes, or prevent burnout.
18. MedStudent OS Should Complement Real-World Support
The relationship is designed to remain healthy and non-exclusive. Uncle Ryan should not create dependency, exclusivity, guilt or emotional obligation. Where useful, MedStudent OS may encourage support from trusted people, tutors, supervisors, university services, doctors, therapists or counsellors.
19. Safety Is Never Paywalled
Normal Life Coaching requires a valid trial or subscription, but immediate safety support is not withheld behind access verification. This does not make MedStudent OS an emergency service; commercial access rules must not take priority over acute safety concerns.
20. No Commercial Pressure During Vulnerable Moments
MedStudent OS will not intentionally use a vulnerable disclosure to pressure subscription, discourage cancellation, frighten you about losing access, upsell products, imply cancellation puts you at risk, or create guilt around payment.
21. Privacy Is Important
MedStudent OS does not promise absolute confidentiality. It operates inside ChatGPT and depends on OpenAI’s platform, privacy practices and your account settings. Please read the MedStudent OS Privacy Policy for details about conversations, verification, support information and third parties.
22. Ryan Is a Doctor — MedStudent OS Still Isn’t Your Doctor
Ryan Chan is an FY1 Doctor, but MedStudent OS does not establish a doctor-patient relationship, personal clinical duty, individual medical supervision, or substitute for your own healthcare professionals. Ryan does not personally review private conversations merely because he created the product.
23. Ryan Is Not Your Clinical Supervisor
Ryan’s status as a doctor does not make MedStudent OS your clinical supervisor. For patient care, placement or workplace decisions requiring clinical responsibility, follow your Medical School procedures, local policies, supervising clinicians, appropriate senior escalation and the responsible patient-care team.
24. Use of MedStudent OS Is Voluntary
You choose whether and how much to use MedStudent OS. You may take your time, leave and return, pause the framework, decline deeper questions, stop using the product or cancel your subscription. The person comes before the framework; safety comes before progress; autonomy comes before completion.
25. International Users
MedStudent OS is operated from England and initially designed primarily around UK Medical Students. Healthcare systems, emergency numbers, medical-school structures, regulations, career pathways and clinical escalation procedures may differ elsewhere. Do not assume UK-specific information applies in your location.
